A couple of weeks ago, I was lounging around and catching up on my favorite blogs. As I was reading, I came across the posts that Katie from Hope Engaged had written about ways in which we can help out the Middle East. (First post here and second here). After traveling across the world this past year and taking part in a number of Mission Trips during my undergraduate study, I found myself drawn to learning more about this organization that Katie was writing about.
A couple of days later, Hope Engaged hosted a giveaway that highlighted, Shining Light International, the organization she had been speaking about. To my delight, I won the lovely T-shirt. I was beyond excited to have won my second blog giveaway ever and also be given the opportunity to bring to light ways in which we can make a difference.
Shining Light International is a non-profit organization based out of Colorado Springs, CO. Their vision is to help empower oppressed communities by meeting practical needs and offering hope for a brighter future. The organization provides education, training, and development to communities such as Gilgit, Pakistan.
From all that we hear about the Middle East each day on the news, I'm sure you can imagine the kind of support and prayers that the women and children need in this part of the world.
Their programs help provide education to children of needy communities, offer training to expand the skills of adult students to better develop their trade, and develop the infrastructure of regions to allow for expansion.
Mahatma Gandhi famously said:
"Be the change you wish to see in the world."
I encourage you to consider taking the first step in helping to make this world a more beautiful and empowered place. You can begin by contributing to the Shining Light International organization.
(Pssst...If you join the Ray of Hope Club, you will even receive the cute shirt that I am wearing in these photos!)
Happy Friday, y'all!
